Coins Jesus Knew!

I thought I would share these for Easter Sunday.

My hubby has been collecting coins since age 7, and these are his "coins that Jesus knew."

Below, from left:

1) a quarter farthing -- Quadrans of Augustus, minted 9 BC

2) a farthing --Roman Assarius or "AS" of Tiberius, minted c.12 AD struck under Augustus

3) a large silver shekel piece --Shekel of Tyre, minted 79-78 BC in Phoenicia

4) a tribute penny -- Denarius Tiberius, minted 14-37 AD

5) a widow's mite -- Lepton of Pontius Pilate, minted 30-31 AD in Judea
